Wingspan expansions are designed to be mixed with the Wingspan base game to add more diversity to the birds and their powers.
This fourth Wingspan expansion explores the birds of Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. This incredibly biodiverse and abundant region is home to more than 3,000 bird species, including many of my personal favorites.
This expansion includes a separate pack of hummingbird cards, with their own twist to gameplay.
Wingspan: Asia introduces the diverse and vibrant birds of the Asian continent. It is several different things:
For 1-2 players, a stand-alone game and a new Duet mode for 2 players that can be combined with the base game or other expansions
For 1-5 players, new bird and bonus cards to add to the original Wingspan and its other expansions
For 6-7 players, a new Flock mode (which also requires the components of the base game).
This second expansion features the colorful and awe-inspiring birds of Oceania, along with new player mats and a new food type, allowing players to explore different strategies in this new environment. It also includes new bonus cards and more end-of-round goals, as well as a new color of egg.
Due to the sheer number of birds affected by the Australian wildfires around the time that this expansion was announced, Stonemaier Games donated $7,439 USD to WIRES, a wildlife rescue organization in Australia.
In this first expansion, European birds feature a variety of new abilities, including a number of birds with round end abilities, abilities that increase interaction between players, and birds that benefit from excess cards/food.
The expansion also includes some new bonus cards and end of round goals, an additional tray for storing the growing collection of birds, purple eggs, extra food tokens, and a colorful new scorepad.
